Thy Judgment Come Thy Will Be Done

IS JUDGMENT ALREADY HERE?

We constantly hear in media that many religious folks believe judgment on America is happening at this moment or is coming to America.  Our sins are too great, they say, for God not to judge.

We hear famous quotes like,

"If God doesn’t punish America He’ll have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah."

"What happened on 9/11 isn't the end of the matter. Then it's not over; there's more to come."

"The Imminent Judgment of God is at hand."

"America deserves judgment for our own individual and collective sins."

“America is just as wicked as Sodom and Gomorrah” and deserves “the judgment of God,”

"Obama will bring judgment on America"

It seems like many in the judgment business are ready to pronounce wrath on America but yet believe they are exempt from judgment themselves. They say on one hand when accused of something, "Judge not least ye be judged." Or "You must love me or you'll go to hell." And then they preach why they think judgment is coming to sinful America.

LET'S CALL DOWN FIRE ON AMERICA

I'm reminded of a story:

"And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him. And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem. And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of." Luke 9

It seems to me that a lot of religious folks are like the early disciples who couldn't wait for judgment to begin. Some of the religiously devout would eagerly command fire to come down from heaven to consume sinful America. They have varied reasons like, "They should have repented and listened to me. Now God is going to make crispy critters out of them. Thank you God."

Are you one of those who preach eminent judgment? You are in survival mode waiting for the fiery judgment of God to come down. Some of you are prepared for judgment with your stock piles of food and containers of water as if judgment is coming to your house. You're just not sure if God will protect you when He starts pouring out His fury. To you, God is an angry God willing and able to destroy your life and everything you hold dear.

What did Jesus say to His disciples, "Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of." That's right. He alluded to fact that they are not speaking from the Spirit of God but of the spirit of Satan. It is Satan who wants America destroyed, not God. God wants all men to repent and be saved. God is patient and hoping that none perish.

Jesus said, "For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them."

Christians should be joined with God in the saving business, not the damning business. It is Satan that accuses the brethren night and day before God. God wants everyone to trust Jesus for salvation.

Revelation 12:

"And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night."

Let serve God with a loving spirit. We should not be willing that any should perish but all come to repentance. We do not need to be in the survival mode like judgment is tomorrow but instead be in the saving mode. We should preach the Word of God and rescue the perishing, not damning them if they refuse  to believe our report.
