Bodily Defilement

"Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego.

But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs" Daniel 1:6-9.

I think a lot of supermarket foods are meant to defile. Not the defilement of sin but the defilement by sin. How many people warn against products found in our grocery stores that produce sickness and disease and yet we ignore them? White bread alone has defiled many.

Eating the king's meat was a normal practice for eunuchs at that time of Daniel. Daniel, however said NO to the king's diet plan. We should do the same to the world's dainty but deadly morsels.

John the Baptist could have had the general diet of his times but instead He had a simple diet of locusts and honey.

"And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey." Matthew 3:4

We can learn a lot from Jesus who said,

"Wisdom is justified of all her children" Luke 7:35.

Should not we use wisdom in the foods we choose? We should and put away sugar treats, sugary coated cupcakes, and birthday cakes made out of deadly ingredients. We need to go back to what God teaches about the earth and eat more naturally non-toxic foods. You can't do it in a day. It is a learning process that continues all of our lives.

I know many godly people who died from horrible diseases that might have been prevented by using simple knowledge of foods. We should be children of prayer but also children of knowledge and wisdom.
